We are pleased to announce the opening of the online forum at wakingdowncommunity.com, and we welcome you to come and participate there!! Below you will find information on how to log in, and how to get started.
The new site exists as a private platform for members of the Waking Down community to share personal experiences, develop and manage action groups, sprout seed ideas, discuss aspects of the Waking Down Dharma, and connect with one another. In contrast to the Waking Down Facebook page, this site offers a confidential and threaded posting structure that supports more in-depth discussions focused on specific topic areas, (many smaller canvases, if you will, instead of everyone painting on one huge canvas) where people’s ideas can thread together and build upon one another more like a face to face conversations, while also leaving a written record of the dialogue. Over time, different groups may form around a certain topic, and each can have their own private corner of the site.
Your first step is to create an account at by clicking here. On the “home” page, click on the “sign up here” button and set up your account (you will be asked to create a user name and password). After we verify your request, the account will be confirmed and you’ll be able to participate in the Forum.
To get started on the Forum, you can edit your user profile by clicking your name in the top right corner. There, you can provide other members some information about yourself, your interests, and so on, even upload a picture if you like.
After that, click the Forums link and go to the Person-to-Person forum. There you can create your own first message post, and introduce yourself to this new online community. We have created 14 different Forums – or broad categories of discussion – for you so far, for example Person-to-Person , Co-Creating Community, Working Groups, Dharma Talk, WDCN Activities, Resources, and Local Regional Areas.
As a Forum member, you can create any number of different new Topics within each of the various forums depending on your specific interests. For example, a Topic under the WDCN Activities Forum is “WD Teleconference Series,” and a Topic under the Working Groups Forum is “Introductory Events.”
You can also reply to someone else’s post, and then your reply will be woven into the thread of that Topic. (If you have ideas for new or different forum areas, let us know.) Eventually we may offer the ability to subscribe via email to the various forums, but for now, you can look for new posts in your favorite forums when you log in.
Another thing you can do is look at the Members list, and invite people you know to be your “friend”. After they accept, it will be easy to see a list of all your friends’ recent posts.
We designed an especially secure and private platform for the Grievance Committee Forum, which has been designated as a closed group for only members who were part of the original GC Google group forum.
Additional polishing of this site will no doubt occur as the forums move forward, but we feel we have now found a proper balance between security and ease of use.
We welcome you to explore the forum, offer feedback, and help make it even better!
Thanks for your participation!
